BÁRCZI GUSZTÁV ÓVODA, ÁLTALÁNOS ISKOLA ÉS KÉSZSÉGFEJLESZTŐ SPECIÁLIS SZAKISKOLA


​The Barczi Gusztav nursery, primary and skill-developing special vocational school and educational consultation service provides day-care education for children with intellectual disabilities from early intervention to early adult age (age 0-23). There are about 35-40 children each year at the age of 0-4 getting early development. At the moment we have 22 children at the nursery, 75 pupils at the primary and 69 young people at the vocational school. Most of the children live in their own families. More than 40% of them are disadvantaged with low income and education being at a high risk of social exclusion. 10 children live in a home. The main aim of the school is to help social inclusion of people with mental handicap. For that purpose experts of us working on to help the children acquire the skills needed for inclusion by special education at the classes and individual speech therapy, conductive therapy, physical therapy, hydrotherapy, art therapy, dog- and hyppotherapy. We also provide medical and psychological help for the children and their parents either. The other tool of us is frequent and active social attendance. We regularly organize inclusive events to get closer handicapped and mainstream children. So they often take part on sport events, exhibitions by their artwork. We got in touch local high schools and their students come to our events and we visit them also several times each year. At the vocational school a field-work programme was organized so trainees have the opportunity to get to know sheltered workplaces and other employees for the more complete social inclusion.
